I am delighted to be the organizer of the Thailand Steinway & Sons Piano Competition once again in 2016. This prestigious competition is part of the long-standing biennial Steinway Hamburg Festival, organised in Germany by Steinway & Sons. Various countries will be running national level competitions to determine representatives for the Regional Final of the Youth Piano Competition and subsequently the Hamburg Festival in Germany.

Following the success of the previous competitions in 2012 and 2014, we will continue to hold the Concerto Competition for all eligible pianists age under 25 for an opportunity for the winner to perform a concerto with the Bangkok Charity Orchestra.

For the first time, this year we also introduce the Amateur Competition category for all non-professional piano enthusiasts age over 25 to take their passion in performing to the stage.

The purposes of this competition are to identify, encourage and promote pianists in the early stages of the careers. The competition allows talented pianists in Thailand to develop and enhance performing experiences as well as to gain exposure to compete at an international level.

I am pleased to see many young pianists participating in 2012 and 2014. The pianists displayed strong sense of determination for achieving their goals in piano performance. I hope that this year, the participants will gain rewarding experiences from the competition and I would like to thank their teachers and parents for their encouragements and dedications.

All the best with the competitions this year and good luck to all.

Chairman of the Committee
